V-Tol Dance: Without Trace

Matthew Keating

the company’s most ambitious and sophisticated work to date

V-Tol Dance, under its brilliant artistic director, the choreographer Mark Murphy, continues to amaze. Murphy incorporates film and other visual effects in exploring different ways of communicating the force of dance. Highly visual, V-Tol’s piece are multi-layered structures that integrate music, design and drama in articulating complex narratives inspired by everyday life.

Without Trace takes its cue from George Sluizer’s acclaimed 1988 Dutch thriller The Vanishing and it is the company’s most ambitious and sophisticated work to date. Text music and film fuse to create an intricate dance that is part thriller, part mystery. Essential.
